Texas-based E&S carrier AM Specialty Insurance Company has hired Renee Montgomery as its new CFO, this publication has learned.
It is understood that the executive will report directly to AM Specialty CEO Shevawn Barder.
Montgomery has over two decades of experience in senior finance and accounting positions. Between December 2020 and January 2022, she worked at Skyward Specialty as SVP based in Houston.
In the late 90s, the executive served as CFO at Houston Casualty Company. She began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Confirming the news in a statement to Inside P&C, CEO Shevawn Barder said: "We are thrilled to welcome Renee Montgomery to the AM Specialty Insurance team as our new CFO.
"Renee brings a wealth of experience and expertise from serving in senior finance roles at industry-leading specialty insurance companies."
"Her experience will be invaluable to our company as we continue to grow and innovate. I am confident that Renee's strategic vision and leadership will help drive strong financial performance, and I look forward to working with her to achieve our goals," she added.
Montgomery said: "I am extremely excited to be part of the launch of this new carrier. I believe I can make a meaningful impact on AM Specialty Insurance Company's success, and I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues to achieve milestones and drive growth for the company."
Earlier this year, the Texan carrier recruited Rita Courtney as its new controller. Courtney joined the firm after nine years at Skyward Specialty, where until recently she was assistant corporate controller.
The appointments follow the launch of AM Specialty Insurance late last year, in a move to focus on specialty lines including transportation, ocean marine, cyber, general liability and inland marine.
